Declaration on accessibility
What does this declaration apply to?
This accessibility statement applies to the website univerlag.uni-goettingen.de and its subpages, i.e. also to the publications of Universitätsverlag Göttingen.
Status of compatibility with the requirements
These web pages are partially compatible with the requirements of the harmonised European standard EN 301 549 V2.1.2 (08-2018). Some parts of the content do not yet fully comply with the accessibility standard. We are making efforts to continuously reduce the identified deficits and shortcomings.
Which areas are not accessible?
Content on the website that is not accessible:
- Subtitles/audio descriptions or transcriptions are not always available for embedded video and audio files, especially for older versions.
- It may happen that words and text sections occur in another language and are not labelled accordingly. Due to the large number of publications, disciplines and languages represented in our publishing programme, this is not always possible, especially with older publications.
- In individual cases, tables are not correctly labelled or are used to position content.
- Forms are not completely barrier-free (sufficient information on incorrect filling of mandatory fields is missing).
Reasons for lack of accessibility
The Göttingen University Press has been publishing scientific, carefully edited online publications since 2003, many of them with hundreds of pages. Although these publications have been freely available online since the beginning, they were not produced with accessibility in mind at the time. To rework them in terms of accessibility, each would have to go through a careful scientific process again, for which the capacities are lacking. If there are errors in the preparation of our website content, we will endeavour to rectify them.
How can we fix barriers?
Do you require accessibility to our publications in order to read them or use them scientifically? If so, please feel free to contact us. For some of our publications, we still have unformatted source formats that we can convert into a machine-readable and barrier-free version and make available parallel to the publisher's PDF. Unfortunately, we can only do this on request. Conciliation procedure
If you do not receive satisfactory answers from the above contact option, you can apply to the conciliation board, set up at the State Commissioner for People with Disabilities in Lower Saxony, to initiate conciliation proceedings in accordance with the Lower Saxony Disability Equality Act (NBGG). The conciliation board according to § 9d NBGG has the task of settling disputes between persons with disabilities and public bodies of Lower Saxony on the topic of accessibility in IT. The conciliation procedure is free of charge. There is no need to involve a legal advisor.
