This book was compiled during a sabbatical visit of Professor Abdallah Mirghani El Tayeb at the Faculty of Forestry and Forest Ecology, Georg-August-University of Göttingen. It reflects our mutual interest in quantitative aspects of tree and forest growth modelling. The modeling applications are not limited to a specific geographical region or system of forest management. We have made an attempt to include examples from different countries in Europe, Asia, North America and Africa, covering even-aged plantation forestry as well as uneven mixed forests managed in the selection system.
