This book addresses a critical gap in Turkic historical linguistics: the lack of a comprehensive collection of Common Turkic and Chuvash lexical cognates. It provides a solid foundation for reconstructing Proto-Turkic, conceptualized as the common ancestor of both Common Turkic and Chuvash. Within a cohesive framework, the book systematically compiles Common Turkic and Chuvash cognates. It also presents two distinct approaches to Proto-Turkic reconstruction: a conservative “Minimal” model, which assigns numerical markers to unresolved sound correspondences, and a more detailed reconstruction that incorporates current linguistic evidence alongside the author’s interpretations. A dedicated table includes cognates, Proto-Turkic reconstructions, and lexical items for external comparison. By balancing methodological rigor with interpretive analysis, this monograph advances the study of Turkic historical linguistics. It prioritizes internal comparative studies and contributes to the development of essential tools for future research.de
