The Northwest German Forest Research Institute [Nordwestdeutsche Forstliche Versuchsanstalt (NW-FVA) is in charge of practical forestry research and has the advisory function to all types of forestry holdings in Lower Saxony, Hesse, Saxony-Anhalt and Schleswig-Holstein. With its five departments forest growth, forest protection, forest genetic ressources, environmental control and forest nature conservation the NW-FVA covers a wide range of research areas. Working on and distributing practical research results is based on a comprehensive network of sample areas and natural forests. Parts of these research results are published in the series "Beiträge aus der Nordwestdeutschen Forstlichen Versuchanstalt".
